A Computational Interpretation of Context-Free Expressions
نویسندگان
چکیده
We phrase parsing with context-free expressions as a type inhabitation problem where values are parse trees and types are contextfree expressions. We first show how containment among context-free and regular expressions can be reduced to a reachability problem by using a canonical representation of states. The proofs-as-programs principle yields a computational interpretation of the reachability problem in terms of a coercion that transforms the parse tree for a context-free expression into a parse tree for a regular expression. It also yields a partial coercion from regular parse trees to context-free ones. The partial coercion from the trivial language of all words to a context-free expression corresponds to a predictive parser for the expression.

Bidirectional Contextual Resolution
This paper describes a formalism and implementation for the interpretation and generation of sentences containing context dependent constructs like determiners, pronouns, focus, and ellipsis. A variant of ‘quasi-logical form’ is used as an underspecified meaning representation, related to ‘resolved logical forms’ via ‘conditional equivalences’. These equivalences define the interpretation of co...
متن کاملUnsupervised Type and Token Identification of Idiomatic Expressions
Idiomatic expressions are plentiful in everyday language, yet they remain mysterious, as it is not clear exactly how people learn and understand them. They are of special interest to linguists, psycholinguists, and lexicographers, mainly because of their syntactic and semantic idiosyncrasies as well as their unclear lexical status. Despite a great deal of research on the properties of idioms in...
متن کاملStudying impressive parameters on the performance of Persian probabilistic context free grammar parser
In linguistics, a tree bank is a parsed text corpus that annotates syntactic or semantic sentence structure. The exploitation of tree bank data has been important ever since the first large-scale tree bank, The Penn Treebank, was published. However, although originating in computational linguistics, the value of tree bank is becoming more widely appreciated in linguistics research as a whole. F...
متن کاملContext-Free Path Queries on RDF Graphs
Navigational graph queries are an important class of queries that can extract implicit binary relations over the nodes of input graphs. Most of the navigational query languages used in the RDF community, e.g. property paths in W3C SPARQL 1.1 and nested regular expressions in nSPARQL, are based on the regular expressions. It is known that regular expressions have limited expressivity; for instan...
متن کاملParsing Models for Identifying Multiword Expressions
Multiword expressions lie at the syntax/semantics interface and have motivated alternative theories of syntax like Construction Grammar. Until now, however, syntactic analysis and multiword expression identification have been modeled separately in natural language processing. We develop two structured prediction models for joint parsing and multiword expression identification. The first is base...
